The best way I can see to combat this is to have On-site 'cloud servers' that are not connected to the internet, but on an intranet instead, I don't see any way around this.

No I have not, not sure what this means? They want some space on personal and private cloud servers for other purposes?

They want space on anything connected to the Internet. In effect it is you pay to use our storage/services, and a part of that cost is allowing us to use yours for free.

So they gain access to your storage sites contents while you pay for it? That isn't right. is there a way to keep em from not being able to use your storage site? Short of making your own on-site storage cloud servers for yourself specifically, hard-wired to your site only?

Encryption and high security.

Doesn't the govt have the backdoor keys to all Encryption? I heard once an email client that offered secure emails with high encryption was shaken down for their encryption keys, and instead of giving the keys to their encryption protocols, they folded their email server instead.
I also remember the U.S. govt was in the process of shaking down Microsoft, then... all of a sudden it halted and all was 'well' I think the govt wanted a backdoor into everyone's operating systems so the govt could snoop at will without telling anyone. (If this makes me seem paranoid. Well I think I have a damned good reason to be, with the way our govt has acted in the past, recent past is Waco & Ruby ridge, to mention a few.)
I came to the conclusion a long time ago that NOTHING Online is secure. not your medical records, that (having read the HIPPA Act, is designed to protect and allow the govt to snoop at will into your medical records that are now put online for the govt and hackers to take at will)
To your personal information such as SSN#'s and more, now they want to use and gather peoples DNA into a big ole database (Your DNA is unique, that makes you who you are, which is the ultimate Identification info) ... the next thing to steal, sell and make money off of besides peoples personal information.
Sorry its a gripe of mine.

I've long said "I trust the government as far as I can throw it." Since it is a blob that absorbs everything, I'm not sure I would get any distance.
