The Communists instituted Internal passports to ensure the tracking of its citizens within their own country, wheras we can go from one state to the next without fear of being asked for our 'papers'. In the Soviet Union, you couldn't cross any boundary line, leave your town or village without permission from the commisars.
I think about this a lot, how free we are and how we can travel anywhere when we want as we wish to, will this be a thing of the past with this REAL ID Act?
